Georgian Parliament issues statement on introducing additional security measures ahead of first session of newly elected MPs

Georgian Parliament on Sunday issued a statement on introducing additional security measures ahead of the first session of the newly elected MPs set to be held on Monday, with the Parliament building being placed on a yellow level of security and visitors being restricted from entering the building.
The statement noted that the security measures would be in effect in the venue to ensure a safe working environment.
“Only persons invited by the relevant structural units will be allowed to attend scheduled parliamentary events (including committee and plenary sessions). No more than two accredited groups of broadcasters from each TV media will be allowed into the building until the end of parliamentary events”, the statement concluded.
Georgian Interior Ministry on Sunday called on organisers and protesters of the rally against the first session of the newly elected legislative body scheduled for Monday not to exceed the norms established by the law on assembly and manifestation and to refrain from unlawful actions.
The session will start at 12 am and the agenda will involve recognising the powers of the members of the legislative body, followed by the formation of factions as well as the election of the Speaker and the Vice Speakers will take place.
Later, the parliamentary committees will be formed, electing its chairs and deputy chairs.
