Parliament official highlights importance of Jeffrey Sachs' remarks about Georgia in European Parliament

Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, on Saturday emphasised the significance of Jeffrey Sachs' remarks in the European Parliament, stating that the opinions of such a highly regarded expert should not be ignored.

Voslki’s comments came after renowned American professor Jeffrey Sachs addressed recent political developments in Georgia, arguing that the involvement of certain MEPs and European politicians was counterproductive to the country's interests.

In his remarks, the Parliament official said that foreign politicians visiting Georgia often lack real influence in their own countries but were trying to push their agendas locally.

“When an assessment comes from such a high platform and a person of such competence, it should certainly be taken seriously by many. They [MEPs] come here to manipulate young people and dictate to them that the Maidan scenario is the best option for the country. They have their own interests and want to implement them in our country through such malicious means. This is what Jeffrey Sachs, a distinguished scientist and political analyst, is talking about”, Volski noted.
