Georgian First Lady attends global summit ‘Fostering the Future Together’ at invitation of US First Lady

Georgia’s First Lady Tamar Bagrationi attended the global summit Fostering the Future Together at the invitation of Melania Trump, the Presidential Administration reported.

The Presidential Administration on Tuesday reported that within the framework of the summit, US First Lady Melania Trump hosted spouses of world leaders at the White House and the State Department over the course of two days.

Discussions focused on exchanging experiences and addressing shared commitments related to children’s well-being in the digital age.

Addressing participants of the global summit, Tamar Bagrationi expressed gratitude to the host and highlighted the importance of collective efforts.

“First of all, I would like to thank our host, Mrs. Melania Trump. History will remember your efforts in bringing together representatives of 45 nations and transforming maternal instinct into a global movement. I represent a nation with a history spanning more than three millennia. Centuries ago, Georgia was ruled by Queen Tamar of Georgia, the first female monarch to be titled ‘King’. She firmly believed that the greatness of a ruler is measured by how they protect the most vulnerable”, she stated.

“Today, we are united by one shared concern - the well-being and future of our children. As First Lady, I wholeheartedly serve this mission, and above all, I address you as a mother of four, who knows from personal experience that ensuring a child’s constant well-being is a profound responsibility. Every parent is familiar with the quiet anxiety that accompanies us - the desire to protect our children from danger while also granting them the freedom to grow, explore, and keep pace with a rapidly evolving world. Finding this balance is not easy; it is a daily challenge - silent, invisible, yet very real”, Bagrationi continued.

In her remarks, the First Lady emphasised the need for balanced and thoughtful approaches that would enable young people to develop in the modern world while preserving their curiosity and direct connection with their surroundings.

“We cannot choose between their safety and their development - it is our duty to ensure both. This is why thoughtful decisions are essential - approaches that allow our children not only to grow and innovate, but also to remain open, curious, and closely connected to the world around them, with space for play and socialization, so they can step confidently into the future”, she said.

“Georgia is taking significant steps toward digital transformation. Our state approach is based on the principle of the ‘middle way’ - finding a balance between technological innovation and fundamental human rights, including the protection of children’s safety”, she added.
