FM says PM’s meeting with Senator Daines could positively impact US-Georgia relations

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Friday described Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s meeting with US Senator Steve Daines as “very good”, expressing hope that it would have a positive impact on the future development of Georgia–US relations.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the discussion had focused on US-Georgia relations, ongoing developments in the country, and its key priorities.
“The meeting clearly reaffirmed Georgia’s readiness to reboot its relations with the United States and to focus on the substance of those relations”, the FM said.
She further highlighted the Senator’s strong interest in Georgia, adding that “Senator Daines views Georgia as a country of great importance - not only within the region but beyond as well. He clearly expressed this view during our discussion”.
Botchorishvili emphasised the importance of the past communication between US President Donald Trump and Georgia.
“This communication was mentioned several times as significant. I hope this meeting will ultimately influence US policy toward Georgia and positively shape the future course of our bilateral relations”, she concluded.
