Georgian PM thanks law enforcement for preventing four violent coup attempts

Georgian prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said that over the past four years there were five attempts to change the country’s constitutional order, four of which were violent, crediting law enforcement agencies for successfully preventing them.

In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasised that the effective and coordinated work of security institutions was the key reason these violent attempts were stopped.

“I would once again like to thank all law enforcement agencies, the ministry of internal affairs, every police officer, especially each officer of the special tasks department, as well as the state security service, the special state protection service, and all relevant agencies and employees who successfully prevented four violent attempts to overthrow the constitutional order between 2022 and 2025”, he said.

“I would like to remind you that over the past four years there were five such attempts, four of which were violent. It is primarily thanks to the effective work of law enforcement agencies that we successfully thwarted these four violent attempts. Once again, every employee of the law enforcement agencies deserves gratitude. I thank them and wish everyone success”, the PM continued.

Kobakhidze concluded by emphasising that the state would continue to do its utmost to protect the dignity of law enforcement agencies and continuously improve employees’ working conditions.
