Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday highlighted the importance of the Ministerial of the Council of Europe.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili emphasised that the Ministerial was providing a vital platform for Georgia to voice its national priorities and concerns.
“We will use this platform to raise all the matters currently on Georgia’s agenda - the challenges facing our country, particularly in terms of security and threats to national stability. Of course, we will reiterate that in the name of democracy, democratic processes in the country should not be hindered and democratic institutions should not be ignored”, the Minister noted.
She further added that when it came to seeking peaceful solutions to conflicts, the full engagement of international institutions was paramount.
“In general, when we speak about occupation, its consequences, human rights in the occupied territories, and seeking peaceful conflict resolution, we primarily mean the maximum use of international institutions”, Botchorishvili continued.
“Issues related to the occupation of Georgia are consistently on the agenda within the Council of Europe, and we use this forum in particular to highlight the challenges concerning human rights violations. These issues will be reflected in the Ministerial documents as well”, the FM concluded.
