Georgia’s partnership, cooperation, and friendship with Germany have long and strong traditions, and everything that Mr. Fischer [the German Ambassador] sought to disrupt, will soon be restored, said on Tuesday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that when the new German ambassador would arrive, the Georgian authorities would be fully open to cooperation.

“As for the recall of the German ambassador, I believe the German Government made the right and pragmatic decision. This person’s presence in our country was absolutely counterproductive for Germany. No other ambassador has ever damaged Georgian-German relations - on the contrary, if we recall previous ambassadors, all of them made positive contributions to the development of our bilateral ties”, the PM said.

“What Mr. Fischer managed to disrupt will soon be restored, given the strong traditions of partnership and friendship between our countries”, he continued.

Kobakhidze concluded by expressing confidence that everything Mr. Fischer sought to dismantle, would be rebuilt very soon.

“I do not know when the German Government will make this decision, but once the new ambassador arrives, we will be absolutely open to cooperation”, he noted.
