Georgia’s ruling party Sec Gen slams MEGOBARI Act as “hostile”, says it has “nothing to do with friendship”

Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said the MEGOBARI Act was a hostile one and that what was written in the document had nothing to do with friendship.
Kaladze noted that the so-called document was based on lies and its adoption would have seriously harmed Georgia-US relations
“We have been saying that relations between the two countries should undergo a reboot. What happened under the previous [US] administration was very difficult - we heard numerous lies and slander about Georgia. We came out and stated directly that our desire is to restore relations and to begin with a new page - this is the most important thing”, Kaladze said.
“Obviously, if the Act had been adopted - a document filled only with lies - it would have been extremely damaging to relations between the two countries”, he concluded.
