Georgian PM: we see double standards in European bureaucracy - they dislike interference but actively intervene in Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the European bureaucracy was applying double standards, claiming it rejects interference in its own affairs, while actively intervening in Georgian affairs and seeking to obstruct the country’s development.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that this reflected the difficult situation that emerged within European bureaucracy.
“We see double standards in the work of European bureaucracy. They do not like interference in their own affairs, yet they are very actively interfering in Georgia’s affairs - not only interfering, but trying to hinder the country’s development, which is a very regrettable development”, he said.
“Of course, this approach must change. I do not know whether this particular case will lead them to revise their stance, but we hope that overall processes within European bureaucracy will improve. Otherwise, these individuals are harming the interests of their own institutions. It is precisely the result of such attitudes and double standards that the European Union is facing negative development trends - in democracy, in human rights, and in the economy”, the PM concluded.
