Ruling party official urges Sweden to focus on its own challenges, not on nonexistent issues in Georgia

Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Tuesday called on the Swedish Government not to “spend time worrying about problems that do not exist in Georgia” and instead to focus on the serious and objectively concerning challenges facing their own country.

In his remarks at a plenary session of the Georgian Parliament, Kirtskhalia noted that the ruling party was concerned about the rise in discriminatory and hate-motivated crimes in Sweden, the increasing risk of organised crime, and overall higher crime levels.

He further expressed concern over Sweden’s economic situation, citing stagnation and challenges caused by high inflation, weak domestic demand, and household debt.

“Taking all of this into account, I sincerely urge you not to spend time worrying about nonexistent problems in Georgia, and instead focus on the serious and objectively concerning challenges your country is facing today”, Kirtskhalia said.

He further added that Georgia would continue to monitor developments and will keep expressing its growing concerns regarding anti-democratic trends in Sweden and other countries.
