Giorgi Kakhiani, the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday praised Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s annual address, stating that Georgian society had “regained the institution of the presidency” and now has a President who serves the interests of citizens.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kakhiani emphasised that the institution of the presidency had regained its proper role in the country.
“In today’s address, President Mikheil Kavelashvili focused on many pressing issues. I would like to note that our society has regained the institution of the presidency, and today the country has a President who serves the interests of the population”, he said.
The Vice Speaker further noted that the President addressed a broad range of topics, including Georgia’s history and culture, the role of Christianity, family values, and traditions.
“Today, the President spoke on many topics and emphasised our country’s history and culture. He spoke about the role of Christianity, highlighted the importance of family values and traditions, touched upon education reform, the occupied territories, and the role of peace. It is also noteworthy that he discussed the challenges our country has faced in recent years”, he noted.
He also pointed out that Kavelashvili addressed the challenges Georgia has faced in recent years, including external pressure and influence.
“The President spoke about the pressure and influence directed at our country. He made very appropriate points before the public and emphasised the importance of peace and unity. This speech was very relevant, important, and meaningful”, Kakhiani concluded.
In an annual address to Parliament regarding the state of the nation, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Tuesday declared that Georgia was entering a new stage of state development.
Set against a backdrop of rapid global geopolitical transformations and an increasingly unpredictable international environment, the President emphasised that the cornerstone of this new era must be a commitment to the motherland and the unwavering protection of independence.
