Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I lands in Georgia for Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II’s funeral

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I on Sunday arrived in Tbilisi to attend the funeral ceremonies of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II.
At 12:15, the Archbishop of Constantinople-New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I will enter the cathedral, where he will lead the funeral service together with the Patriarchal Locum Tenens Metropolitan Shio and members of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Later, at 15:00, the body of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II will be transferred from Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi to Sioni Cathedral in a solemn funeral procession.
