Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday commented on the French National Assembly’s recent resolution concerning Georgia, taking aim at both its content and the presence of Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zourabichvili during its adoption.
Papuashvili emphasised that Zourabichvili attended the session where the resolution was passed, describing her presence as symbolically significant.
“Madam Salome has returned to her homeland and was in the right place - in a place where a hostile resolution against Georgia and the Georgian people was adopted. So, the picture we saw was absolutely organic - Madam Salome in her homeland, as one of the co-organisers of hostile steps against Georgia”, Papuashvili stated.
The resolution adopted by the French National Assembly calls for the suspension of Georgia’s EU accession process until the country meets political criteria, including holding “free and fair elections”.
