Serbian President says Serbia and Georgia bound by “common values, intertwined history” in letter to Georgian counterpart

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Monday thanked Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during his official visit to Georgia.

In a letter addressed to the Georgian President, Vučić noted it had become evident upon his arrival in Tbilisi that the two nations share cordial and brotherly relations.

“Your Excellency, allow me to express my gratitude for the exceptional and warm hospitality extended to me and my delegation in your beautiful country. From the moment we arrived in Tbilisi, it was clear that our countries are bound by cordial and brotherly relations”, he said.

The President highlighted that Serbia and Georgia are more than two countries that have established good bilateral relations - we share common values and an intertwined history, strengthened by Orthodoxy, which has withstood the harsh tests of time. I was particularly pleased and impressed by the rapid pace of progress your country is experiencing, as well as by the determination of its leadership and authorities to make every effort to ensure Georgia’s success and achieve tangible results”, he noted.

“I am confident that the best moments of our cooperation still lie ahead, to the benefit of our business communities and citizens, who are connected by a strong mutual affection. Your goodwill towards me was especially evident during the visit to the beautiful Kakheti region, where you introduced me to its rich culture, winemaking traditions and religious fortresses”, the President continued.

Vučić concluded by expressing his will to further strengthen the relations between countries.

“As I look forward to the further strengthening of our relations and brotherly ties, I take this opportunity to once again renew my sincere respect for you”, the letter reads.
