Georgia has launched the twelfth iteration of the multinational military exercise Agile Spirit 2025, officially opened at the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC) in Krtsanisi.
The exercise, which enhances regional cooperation, is being conducted simultaneously in Georgia and Türkiye.
The opening ceremony featured addresses by First Deputy Minister of Defence Paata Patiashvili, Deputy Commander of the Georgian Defence Forces Major General Irakli Chichinadze, and Commander of the United States 7th Army Training Command in Europe and Africa, Brigadier General Terry Tillis.
The exercise is co-led by Brigadier General Koba Grigolia, Commander of the Western Command of the Georgian Defence Forces, and Colonel William Cox of the US Georgia National Guard.
Attendees at the ceremony included representatives from the Georgian Defence Forces, defence attachés accredited in Georgia, the NATO Liaison Office, the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP) Core Group, the US Embassy’s Office of Defence Cooperation, and the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM).
Agile Spirit 2025 began in Türkiye near Adana province with a joint American-Turkish airborne operation on July 21.
In addition to Georgia, the United States, and Türkiye, the exercise involves military personnel from eight other countries and two multinational units, with representatives from two additional countries observing.
The exercise aims to boost the readiness of participating defence forces while strengthening interoperability and operational capabilities, fostering greater regional security and collaboration.
