Georgian FM: high-level visits strengthen partnership between Georgia and Central Asia

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Friday assessed Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Tajikistan, describing it as an important step in deepening relations between the two countries.

In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that exchanges of high-level visits create additional opportunities to strengthen economic and trade ties, as well as cooperation across various sectors.

“The Prime Minister’s visit to Tajikistan is an important step in relations between our two countries. The exchange of high-level visits provides a good opportunity to discuss the development of relations in various areas”, Botchorishvili said.

She also highlighted the importance of Georgia’s relations with Central Asian countries, particularly in the context of regional connectivity and transit cooperation.

“In general, relations with Central Asian countries are important and a priority for us because Georgia serves as an important transit country for them. In this context, it is necessary to strengthen economic and trade relations, as well as cooperation in various fields between our countries”, she stated.

Botchorishvili added that partnership with Central Asian states within international organisations was also of interest to Georgia.

“Partnership with Central Asian countries within international organisations is also important for us. In this context, this visit is particularly significant, as it will contribute to the further development and strengthening of our relations”, the FM concluded.
