Georgian, Serbian Presidents visit Kakheti region

The Presidents of Georgia and Serbia, accompanied by their spouses and delegations, on Wednesday visited the Kakheti region as part of Aleksandar Vučić’s official visit to the country.
Together with the State Representative of the Kakheti region, Platon Kalmakhelidze, the high-ranking guests visited the Alaverdi St. George Cathedral and Monastery Complex. The guests were guided by the Metropolitan of Alaverdi, Abba David Makharadze.
It was noted that, given the common spiritual and cultural values existing between the two friendly nations, the joint visit to this most important Orthodox shrine had a special symbolic meaning.
As part of the visit, the Presidents and First Ladies also visited the Badagoni Winery, where the company’s founder, Giorgi Salakaia, introduced them to the ancient traditions and modern technologies of Georgian winemaking.
As a sign of Georgian hospitality and strong friendship, a symbolic wine barrel named after Vučić, was ceremoniously placed at the winery.
As the Presidential Administration noted, the first official visit of the Serbian President to Georgia was another key step in deepening the Georgian-Serbian partnership and strengthening the multifaceted ties between the two nations.
