China and Georgia are good friends and partners, said on Monday Zhou Qian, Ambassador of China to Georgia, during a reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the PRC and the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II.
In his address, Zhou highlighted that since the establishment of the strategic partnership in 2023, political trust between the two countries has been continuously strengthened.

“We firmly support each other in following development paths chosen by our peoples and suited to our national conditions. We stand together in safeguarding our core interests, sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. Since the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2023, political mutual trust between China and Georgia has been continuously strengthened, high-level visits are frequent, and economic and trade cooperation has maintained a positive momentum. In 2024, bilateral trade reached $2.25 billion, an annual increase of 10 percent. The two sides have recently completed negotiations on the renewal of the free trade agreement in Tbilisi, which will further strengthen trade between China and Georgia and contribute to improving the quality of bilateral economic and trade relations”, the Ambassador said.

“Both sides are actively promoting the construction of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and continuously deepening cooperation. This year, the Education Ministries of our countries signed an agreement on mutual recognition of higher education, and Chinese has been included in the foreign language curriculum in Georgian public schools. The cooperation between our countries is deepening in various fields, including tourism and culture, which further enriches the strategic partnership. This year, during the May Day holiday, Georgia was among the ten most popular overseas tourist destinations in China. We hope that our Georgian friends will visit various places in China more often and get to know the real China better”, he continued.

He further expressed the Chinese Government’s readiness to work with Georgia to further strengthen the friendship between the two nations.

“China is ready to work with Georgia to further strengthen the friendship between our countries and make the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries bring even greater benefits to our peoples. I wish China development, prosperity, peace and prosperity, I wish the China-Georgia strategic partnership to reach even greater heights, and peace and prosperity to China, Georgia and the world”, he concluded.
