Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Singapore was an important milestone in advancing relations between Georgia and Singapore and strengthening ties between their respective regions.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that meetings with her Singaporean counterparts were among the most important elements of the visit, providing an opportunity to discuss expanding cooperation and sharing experience.
“The Prime Minister’s visit was highly significant for the development of relations between Georgia and Singapore. During high-level meetings, we discussed strengthening political and economic ties, the steps that can be taken to deepen bilateral cooperation, and ways to encourage economic relations and political dialogue”, she said.
“This visit was particularly important because it included meetings with fellow ministers. I had the opportunity to discuss with my counterpart the prospects for strengthening political and economic relations between Georgia and Singapore. We also spoke about the importance of sharing experience. Both countries face similar challenges and opportunities, making the exchange of experience valuable for future joint cooperation”, the FM continued.
Botchorishvili added that the discussions further focused on the importance of strengthening regional cooperation.
“We also discussed enhancing regional connectivity. Singapore is an important partner for Georgia in strengthening ties with Asian countries. Likewise, Georgia is important for Singapore in expanding its engagement with our region. In this context, the Prime Minister’s visit provided an excellent opportunity and represented an important step toward strengthening ties between our two countries and our two regions”, she concluded.
