Ruling party official says Georgia remains ready for reset in relations with Germany

Georgia has responded with dignity to years of “insults and unfair treatment” and has consistently expressed its readiness for a dignified reset in relations with Germany, said on Thursday Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body.
Kirtskhalia blamed the former German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer for the deterioration of relations between Tbilisi and Berlin.
“It can be said without hesitation that he acted as yet another representative of the collective UNM activists and, unfortunately, used every lever at his disposal to damage the historic partnership between Georgia and Germany as much as possible”, he noted.
“As for the reset, the first step can be considered the resolution of important technical issues that should have been addressed long ago. The fact is that these issues are now being resolved”, Kirtskhalia concluded.
