Georgian PM, Changi Airports International CEO discuss airport development, aviation cooperation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday met with Changi Airports International CEO Eugene Gan in Singapore to discuss Georgia’s rapidly growing aviation and tourism sectors, the development of airport infrastructure, and potential cooperation with the global airport operator.
During the meeting, the Georgian side highlighted the rapid growth of tourism and aviation in Georgia.
It was noted that approximately 80 airlines currently operate in the country, connecting Georgia with more than 140 destinations around the world.
Kobakhidze discussed the Georgian government’s strategy for expanding the country’s aviation infrastructure and the significant investments being made to meet growing demand.
Particular attention was paid to increasing the capacity of Tbilisi International Airport and constructing a new international airport in Vaziani.
The new airport is planned to accommodate up to 20 million passengers and is expected to strengthen Georgia’s position as a regional aviation and connectivity hub.
The meeting also explored opportunities to benefit from Changi Airports International’s expertise in airport development and management.
The sides discussed potential cooperation in airport construction, management, operational efficiency, and the exchange of international experience.
