Georgian PM highlights Trump's potential election victory’s implications for Ukraine, Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday suggested that the victory of the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the United States presidential elections could hasten the end of the war in Ukraine, subsequently stabilising the region and positively influencing attitudes towards Georgia.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze also emphasised that the decision on the United States presidency was resting solely with the American electorate.
“If Trump wins the elections, the war in Ukraine will end sooner and, accordingly, our region will calm down sooner, which will change the attitude towards Georgia as well”, Kobakhidze said.
“Of course, we cannot interfere in anyone's elections, especially in the presidential elections of such a large country as the United States of America. This is not our business. The only thing that can be said is that if Trump wins the elections, the war in Ukraine will end sooner and, accordingly, our region will calm down sooner, which will change the attitude towards Georgia in particular. If there will be peace in the region, the attitude towards Georgia will also change, this is the only thing that can be said in this regard, the rest is the choice of the American people, the American people should decide who will be the president of the United States”, Kobakhidze said.
