Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Saturday met with Paweł Herczyński, the European Union Ambassador to the country.

The President noted that “as soon as they [EU] see that the people of Georgia have expressed their calm but unwavering will to return to Europe in the [upcoming] elections, everything that is needed will be put into action immediately”.

Zourabichvili emphasised that the will of the people and their vote in the elections would be “decisive” for advancing Georgia’s relationship with Europe, underscoring the importance of democratic processes in the country.

“Today, I met with the EU ambassador, who reiterated not only support for this path, this charter [promoted by President for uniting opposition parties ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26], and the action plan, but also emphasised that as soon as Georgian citizens express their calm and unwavering will in the elections to return to Europe, everything necessary will be set in motion”, Zourabichvili said.

“He confirmed me that everything is ready to quickly restore our path and even reinstate the aid that is currently frozen. He also confirmed that everything is prepared to ensure that Georgia, as a country, does not lose anything during this period”, Zourabichvili concluded.
