Bidzina Ivanishvili claims high-ranking foreign official suggested Georgia engaging in guerrilla fighting against Russia

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday recalled the conversation of Irakli Garibashvili, the Chair of the ruling party and the former Prime Minister, with one of the high-ranking foreign officials, with the latter suggesting three or four days of fighting, then engaging in a guerrilla movement, and fighting with Russia with foreign assistance.

In his interview with Imedi TV, Ivanishvili noted that the fact that the European Parliament had dared to write in its resolution that “we should join the Russian sanctions”, part of the domestic opposition dared to say it publicly, part did not dare, but there was a lot of pressure on this issue.

“As they said it, I can also remember a story told by the former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, when a high-ranking foreign official had a conversation with him. Irakli asked: but how do you imagine, how many days can we fight, how many days can we endure? [The official] responded: three or four days. [The official further added] that “there are three million of [Georgians] and they [Russians] can't kill all of you in three or four days, you can go to the forest with a guerrilla movement, we will help you and you will fight from there”. This was the reality”, Ivanishvili claimed.

“The ruling team knew this earlier than the public, when we also provided additional information to the public about what was happening in the offices”, he continued.

Ivanishvili further highlighted that the ruling Georgian Dream party had to secure a constitutional majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections in order to be able to get rid of the collective United National Movement opposition so that the events that had been taking place in the country for the last 12 years did not happen again.
