Ruling Georgian Dream party blames “orchestrated attacks” on foiled “deep state's agent network” comeback following 2024 elections

The Political Council of the ruling Georgian Dream party on Sunday released a sharp statement addressing a letter signed by 17 European foreign ministers and the High Representative of the European Union.
The joint statement from the 17 European foreign ministers and the EU High Representative urged the Georgian government to “immediately release unjustly detained politicians, journalists, and activists, repeal repressive legislation, and engage in national dialogue with all relevant parties”.
The ruling party described the joint letter as being “saturated with Soviet-style disinformation and false accusations”, calling it a crude and unjust attack not only on the Georgian Government but on Georgian democracy and society at large.
The statement stressed that the “orchestrated attacks” stem from the Georgian people's refusal to allow the return to power of the “deep state's agent network - the collective United National Movement” in the recent parliamentary elections.
“The statement is saturated with Soviet-style disinformation and false accusations. Accordingly, we call on each signatory of the letter to treat their statements with more responsibility in the future. The orchestrated attack against the Georgian people, which took on a new dimension after October 26, has a single reason: the Georgian people did not allow the deep state agent network - the collective United National Movement [opposition] - to return to power, a cause openly supported by the EU Ambassador to Georgia and specific European and former American officials”, the statement said.
In response to criticisms raised by European officials, the ruling Georgian Dream party cited election monitoring reports and international endorsements as validation of the 2024 elections' legitimacy.
“Everyone can see that the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections cannot be questioned. In addition to objective reality, the legitimacy of the elections is supported by the OSCE/ODIHR conclusions as well as statements by OSCE officials, including the recent statement by the OSCE Secretary General that the 2024 elections fully reflected the will of the Georgian people. It is clear that European officials are not dissatisfied with the content of the elections but with their outcome”, the statement noted.
