Parliament official says GORBI survey clearly shows Georgian Dream has no real political alternative

Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday responded to the latest GORBI public opinion poll, stating that the results clearly demonstrate the ruling Georgian Dream party’s dominant position in the country’s political landscape.

The poll included the question: “If parliamentary elections were held this week, which of the following parties would you vote for?”

According to the results, 56.2 percent of respondents named Georgian Dream as their preferred choice.

“This survey clearly reflects the current political sentiments in Georgia, including the fact that the Georgian Dream does not have a real alternative or a real political opponent in the country”, the official noted.

“It also shows that the vast majority of the population supports the steps taken by the Georgian Dream and remains optimistic about the future, particularly regarding the Government’s decisions”, Makhashvili concluded.

The survey, conducted by GORBI and commissioned by TV company Imedi, used face-to-face interviews across Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia. Fieldwork took place between June 22 and July 5, and involved 2,300 adult respondents (aged 18 and above).

The data has been weighted both demographically and politically - based on declared voting preferences and official results from the 2024 parliamentary elections - and represents the opinions of likely voters.

Likely voters were identified through responses about their willingness to participate in the elections. The margin of error for the national sample is +/- 3%.
