Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the first vice speaker of the parliament, on Thursday commented on the messages aired in the debut program of the Georgian-language service of Poland’s public broadcaster, describing them as a propaganda campaign aimed at turning Georgia into a proxy space.
In his remarks, Volski noted that such actions against a small country like Georgia serve a specific agenda intended to transform the country into a “proxy area”, where external forces with particular political objectives could expand their influence.
“Such a propaganda campaign against a small country like Georgia serves a specific purpose - turning Georgia into a proxy area where forces with certain political objectives would have influence. To achieve this, it is necessary to fight against the state structure, which is supported by the majority of the population - the government, the executive and legislative branches. The Church is also among those institutions that hinder the spread and success of this propaganda”, Volski said.
He further argued that these narratives were aimed at promoting ideas that supported destabilisation and revolutionary processes in Georgia.
Volski further claimed that significant financial resources had been invested by the Polish government in this media initiative, adding that it does not serve Georgia’s national interests.
