Georgian PM hails national football team's triumph as symbol of national pride

Speaking at Akaki Tsereteli State University in Western Georgia’s city of Kutaisi, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday conveyed his congratulations to students on the remarkable achievement of the national football team, underscoring the enduring significance of the victory, attributing it to the team's collective spirit and unwavering dedication to the country.

The Georgian national football team on Tuesday secured a spot in Euro 2024 after prevailing over Greece in a penalty shoot-out following a 0-0 draw in their play-off final after extra time.

Addressing the students, Kobakhidze extended his congratulations on the success and encouraged them to draw inspiration from the team's accomplishment.

“Our guys gave us a truly historic victory. Emotions have not slowed down yet and will not slow down for a long time. A truly historic victory, and this victory shows that where there is love for the country, fighting spirit and faith in victory, everything is possible. Here I would like to wish you great success and victories in your professional life in the future”, Kobakhidze told the students.
