Georgian Economy Minister discusses strategic projects and economic ties with US State Department official

Priorities for economic cooperation between Georgia and the United States were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Mariam Kvrivishvili, the minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia, and Peter Andreoli, a representative of the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

The discussions focused on prioritising economic cooperation, with a specific emphasis on attracting American investment for major infrastructure projects and deepening bilateral trade ties.

The Georgian side highlighted its keen interest and optimistic expectations regarding the restoration of a strategic partnership and a “reset” of relations with the United States.

It was emphasised that this process would yield a significant positive impact on the further development of economic relations between the two nations.

The meeting reviewed Georgia’s investment potential in strategic sectors such as energy, transport, logistics, and others.

Special attention was given to strengthening Georgia’s role within the Middle Corridor.

The officials emphasised large-scale projects, such as Georgia's port infrastructure, railroad modernisation, and the new international airport in Tbilisi, all of which, once fully operational, are expected to significantly enhance Georgia's competitiveness as a key participant in the Middle Corridor.

Kvrivishvili provided a detailed update on the development plans and current progress of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.

Notably, the State Department representative personally visited the port’s construction site to observe the state’s strategic approach to the project's development firsthand.
