President Aliyev signs condolence book for Patriarch Ilia II at Georgian Embassy in Baku

Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev on Friday visited the Georgian Embassy in Baku to express his condolences over the passing of His Holiness Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.
According to the Azerbaijani president’s press service, Aliyev made an entry in the condolence book opened at the embassy.
The statement notes that President Aliyev emphasised that Ilia II dedicated his entire life and work to noble causes and to the development of inter-religious dialogue. He also stressed that the Patriarch will always be remembered with great respect in Azerbaijan.
After signing the condolence book, president Aliyev held a brief meeting with Georgia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze. The ambassador thanked Aliyev for visiting the embassy and for expressing his sympathy.
