Current events and challenges facing Georgia and Vatican as well as the modern world, including struggle for Christian values, were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is on an official visit to the Vatican, and Pope Leo XIV.
Kobakhidze once again congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election as the head of the Roman Catholic Church on behalf of the Georgian Government and the Georgian people.
He further expressed hope that his first visit to the Vatican as Prime Minister would contribute to the further strengthening of relations between Georgia and the Holy See.
“We had a very interesting conversation with the Pope. The support of the Vatican, the Pope, is very important for us. This support has been very important since the day of the restoration of independence, for which I thanked the Pope. The support of our sovereignty and territorial integrity from the Vatican is especially important, which we emphasized”, the PM said.
