Georgian Parliament official: parties threatening Georgia’s development have no place in politics

Zviad Shalamberidze, the First Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government, said on Tuesday that political parties that threaten the country’s development should have no place in Georgian politics.
Shalamberidze made the comment in response to a decision by members of the parliamentary majority to add the political party “For Georgia” to a lawsuit filed with the Constitutional Court seeking to ban several political parties.
“Parties that threaten our country’s development and oppose our Constitution have no place in Georgian politics. This is reflected in the decision to add the ‘For Georgia’ party to the lawsuit we previously filed with the Constitutional Court”, he said.
According to the decision of the parliamentary majority, the lawsuit to be filed with the Constitutional Court this week seeking to ban several political parties will also include “For Georgia”.
