Georgia ranked strongest among EU candidate countries in rule of law resilience

A new assessment of rule of law resilience in European Union candidate countries has been published by the European Policy Institute, showing that Georgia and Montenegro demonstrate the strongest overall performance among the states evaluated.

According to the report, Georgia and Montenegro outperform the other EU candidate countries across several key indicators linked to governance, institutional effectiveness, and legal protections. The remaining candidate countries trail behind the two leaders in the overall assessment.

The study evaluated countries based on a number of rule of law indicators, including the absence of corruption and the ability to effectively control corruption.

Another major criterion focused on regulatory enforcement - the capacity of institutions to successfully implement and enforce laws. Notably, the profiles of Montenegro and Georgia in this category most closely align with the European Union average.

The assessment also examined the effectiveness of criminal justice systems and civil society institutions. These indicators measure how successfully countries ensure legal protection mechanisms for citizens and businesses.
