Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Sunday highlighted the essential role of law enforcement in safeguarding state order and stability, speaking at an official event dedicated to Police Day.
Addressing attendees, Papuashvili said that police officers represent the “invisible line” that separates order from chaos, peace from violence, and law from arbitrariness.
“Happy Police Day to you! You who stand every day on guard for the safety of the state, society, and every citizen”, he said.
According to the Speaker, where police properly fulfill their duties with dignity, citizens live peacefully, society develops freely, and the state remains firmly grounded on its foundations.
“The modern state is based on three main pillars - freedom, justice, and public order. None of these can exist without a strong, professional, and publicly trusted police force”, Papuashvili noted.
He stressed that respect for the law is the foundation of state strength, adding that law enforcement officers play a crucial role not only in maintaining order but also in protecting Georgia’s statehood, stability, and peaceful development.
Papuashvili also referred to the complex security environment facing Georgia in recent years, citing regional instability, hybrid threats, disinformation, and radicalization as key challenges that increase the responsibility of law enforcement agencies.
“Under such circumstances, the professionalism of the police is of particular importance”, he said.
The Speaker expressed gratitude to the families of police officers for their support and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
“Today we remember with gratitude the heroic police officers who sacrificed their lives in service to Georgia. Their devotion is an honorable part of our state’s history”, he said.
He also thanked the families of officers, emphasising their shared responsibility in supporting law enforcement personnel.
“Once again, I congratulate you on Police Day. I wish you peace, resilience, and dignified service to Georgia. May God protect each of you. May God protect Georgia”, Papuashvili concluded.
