Georgian Parliament Committee Chair claims Poland leading anti-Georgia disinformation effort

Unfortunately, Poland has decided to take a leading role at the state level in spreading disinformation against Georgia, its government, the Georgian Church, and other public groups, said on Thursday Levan Makhashvili, the chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European integration committee.
He made the statement while assessing messages aired in the first broadcast of the Georgian-language service of Poland’s public broadcaster.
Makhashvili noted that while Georgia is being lectured on democracy and instructed on what independent journalism should look like, such actions simultaneously undermine democratic principles.
“When institutions that enjoy a very high level of public trust, respect, and confidence are insulted in this way, the ultimate goal is to incite social discord and fuel confrontation”, Makhashvili said.
