Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Saturday said that Georgia was continuing its centuries-old mission as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia, now transforming into a reliable digital gateway between the two continents.
Speaking at the High-Level Meeting on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai, Kvrivishvili highlighted Georgia’s strategic geographic position and the country’s efforts to strengthen digital connectivity and resilience.
“For centuries, Georgia, with its trade and transport routes, has served as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia. Today, we are continuing this historic mission and becoming a reliable digital gateway between the two continents. The Black Sea submarine fiber-optic cable, together with new large-scale data centres, will significantly strengthen secure connectivity and digital resilience. This will further consolidate Georgia’s role as a strategic digital hub and create new opportunities for investment and research”, Kvrivishvili said.
The Economy Minister highlighted Georgia’s strategic vision for digital connectivity and the importance of strong international partnerships, particularly with China.
“On the path toward implementing this ambitious vision, strong international partnerships remain a key priority for us. That is why elevating bilateral relations between Georgia and China to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership is a major step forward in our cooperation, offering new opportunities in various areas, including strengthening our partnership in the field of artificial intelligence”, she concluded.
