Georgian President accuses deep state, global war party of treating Georgia as “project”

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Friday denounced foreign forces, labelled as the deep state or global war party, for treating Georgia as a manipulated project, asserting that the Government’s commitment to national interests and sovereignty had triggered orchestrated opposition from these entities.

“Today, the Georgian Government has decided to be independent, pursuing a policy based on national interests, placing national interests first, and engaging with everyone respectfully but as equals, while asking those around to respect the choice of Georgia’s citizens, its Government, and its sovereignty. This is one reality. Unfortunately, there is another reality where forces, which we call by various names – be it the deep state or the global war party – view our country, our homeland, our state as a project – Project Georgia – which has specific obligations in these processes. They believe Georgia’s role should be different”, Kavelashvili said.

He further described a dual reality: one where Georgia’s government and citizens uphold national sovereignty and independence, and another where foreign entities treat Georgia as a project to serve their agendas, using local political parties and NGOs as tools to execute their plans after Georgia refused to comply with certain expectations.

“According to this project, the people you mentioned are instruments participating in this project, receiving instructions and acting on those instructions. These people should not find it difficult to perceive and assess reality as it is, but since they are dependent, presented as instruments, and tasked by the creators of this project, they are forced to act this way. If we view events through this lens, naming things should not be difficult. There are two realities: one where, fortunately, the majority of Georgia’s population and the Government stand together in this process, defending the state, state institutions, national interests, and independence, while also wanting their partners to cooperate with them. However, for years, this project has existed, and through it, so-called political parties, non-governmental organisations, and others operate”, he noted.

The President added that after Georgia refused to take certain steps, the creators of this so-called project began using the instruments at their disposal.

“The fact that Georgia was supposed to take certain steps and our state refused to do so – after this, the creators of this project started using the instruments at their disposal through various technological means”, the President concluded.
