Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Monday expressed hope that European bureaucrats would come to terms with the fact that they could not replace the Georgian Dream in Georgia - neither through elections nor through unrest - and would instead sit down to start a dialogue.
In his remarks, Machavariani noted that global dynamics are changing, and by 2030, when EU enlargement is expected, the situation is likely to be very different.
“We are, of course, ready for any kind of dialogue. We have stated this multiple times, and the Prime Minister has also expressed his readiness to meet at any time in the EU to address any issues that concern them. However, such meetings must be based on arguments, an exchange of ideas, not just finger-pointing”, he said.
“We very much hope that EU bureaucrats will accept that they cannot replace the Georgian Dream in Georgia - neither through elections nor through unrest. They will come to terms with this, sit down, and start a conversation with us. At the same time, we see that a global awakening is underway: in the United States, common sense has prevailed, and Europe is also undergoing significant changes. By 2030, when further EU enlargement is planned, we are confident that many things within the EU will have changed as well”, Machavariani concluded.
