Georgia’s ruling party Sec Gen: Georgia must be governed by people’s choice, not “externally installed agent network”

Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and secretary general of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said that the country must be governed by a government elected by the Georgian people, not by “agent network installed from outside”.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kaladze criticised the EU ambassador's rhetoric, characterising it as an unacceptable interference in Georgia’s internal affairs and democratic processes.
“The EU ambassador... should be engaged in diplomatic activities, yet he does everything except diplomacy”, Kaladze stated, accusing the envoy of directly meddling in domestic politics.
Addressing the ambassador’s warnings regarding Georgia’s trajectory, the mayor argued that the country is currently experiencing peace and significant economic growth that outpaces many European nations.
“What ‘return to the past’ are we talking about?” he questioned.
Kaladze alleged that certain international actors have “dropped their masks” and are openly opposing the Georgian state. He suggested that there is a concerted effort to replace the current administration with an “agent network”, which would follow external directives.
The mayor concluded by emphasising the importance of national sovereignty and the legitimacy of the electoral process.
"The main reason is that they want to bring their agents into power - people who are ready for anything and will do whatever they are told. We have been through this and we know the dire consequences it can bring. Therefore, the country must be governed by the government elected by the Georgian people, and not by agents installed from the outside”.
