Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said that discussions held during the visit of the US Department of State delegation to Georgia were “interesting and highly constructive”.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze noted that while he could not publicly discuss the details of the meetings, the talks were productive and encouraging.
“We had interesting discussions. It would be difficult for us to speak publicly about the details of these conversations, but I would like to reiterate that it was an interesting and very constructive dialogue that took place during the visit of our American colleagues to Georgia”, he said.
The PM stressed that the key priority was establishing fair approaches in bilateral relations, arguing that relations had deteriorated in recent years due to what he described as the unfair policies of the previous US administration.
“You remember very well what the previous [US] administration did, how it supported radicalism, hatred, lies in our country, how it encouraged sabotage of state institutions, including how it pushed the radical opposition not to use its [parliamentary] mandates. This happened both in 2020 and after the 2024 parliamentary elections. Today we see that these approaches have changed, which keeps us optimistic that it will be possible to renew the strategic partnership from a clean slate with a concrete roadmap. This is our main offer to the American side”, he concluded.
