Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, stated on Thursday that Georgia’s strong economic growth demonstrates the Government is moving in the right direction.

Speaking at the 16th Tbilisi Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, Kaladze emphasised that economic growth, social equality, and environmental protection are the fundamental pillars required for the country’s long-term development.

“I welcome and thank the representatives of the executive and legislative bodies, our youth, and our foreign guests, including Professor John Mearsheimer, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, and MEPs Michael von der Schulenburg and Ruth Firmenich”, Kaladze said.

The Mayor noted that this year's forum focuses on Sustainable Development for Socio-Economic Well-Being. He stressed that true sustainability extends far beyond numbers on a page.

“We all understand that sustainable development is not just about statistics and economic indicators”, Kaladze added. "It is about the well-being of our citizens, improving their quality of life, developing our cities, building new infrastructure, and creating jobs”.

Kaladze also highlighted Tbilisi's growing status as a hub for regional cooperation and dialogue, noting that the city is uniquely positioned to foster new partnerships, attract foreign investment, and implement global Sustainable Development Goals.

He expressed confidence that through unity, responsibility, and shared goals, the country can create a prosperous environment for all.

Organised by the Tbilisi City Hall's Department of Economic Development, the forum brings together central and local government officials, MPs, diplomats, academics, and business leaders. This year’s event features 50 international delegates from 20 countries, with a schedule packed with high-level plenary sessions and thematic panel discussions.
