Georgia ranks among Europe’s top three for public procurement integrity, outperforms all EU member states

The European Anti-Corruption Research Center - European Center for Anti-Corruption and State-Building Studies - has published an extensive report on the causes and trends of corruption risks across European countries, in which Georgia achieves one of the strongest results in Europe in terms of public procurement integrity.
The study covers all 41 EU member and candidate countries and was prepared at the request of the European Union within the framework of the European Commission’s research and innovation program.
Among various topics, the report analyzes the integrity of public procurement systems in European countries.
Georgia ranks among the top three countries in Europe. While the analysis of procurement transparency shows that Georgia still trails EU member states, the assessment of procurement integrity demonstrates that Georgia outperforms every EU member state.
Using a 100-point scoring system for public procurement integrity, Georgia scored 88 points, only 2 points behind Iceland and Switzerland, which lead the ranking with 90 points.
Georgia is ahead of the Czech Republic and Estonia by 3 points, Belgium by 4, Luxembourg and Bulgaria by 5, Denmark and France by 6, Sweden by 7, Finland by 9, and the Netherlands by 10. It exceeds Greece, Lithuania, Cyprus, Germany, Norway, Ireland, and Hungary by more than 10 points.
Georgia also leads Latvia, Romania, Croatia, Malta, Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia, Austria, and Italy by 20 points or more.
Among current and former EU member states, the lowest positions are held by the United Kingdom, Spain, and Portugal, scoring 55, 50, and 48 points respectively - placing them 33, 38, and 40 points behind Georgia.
The extensive report was prepared for the European Union within a European Commission program, with the involvement of the Institute for European Analysis and Policy, as part of the project Bridging the Gap Between Anti-Corruption Policy Evidence, Regulations, and Impact.
