Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Friday highlighted the Government’s economic policy as a cornerstone for attracting investments, fostering sustainable development, and creating jobs.
During her speech at the opening ceremony of a new metallurgical plant by Georgia Metal LLC in the city of Zestafoni, Kvrivishvili emphasised Georgia’s economic policies.
“Georgia’s economic policy, under the leadership of our Government and the Prime Minister, is aimed at bringing Georgia into the ranks of developed countries and fostering prosperity and wealth”, the Minister said.
The modern facility, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, was inaugurated alongside Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The plant, with an investment of 80 million GEL, employs over 400 people and boasts an annual production capacity of more than 400,000 tons of construction materials.
“This is precisely the volume that will be added to our domestic consumer market, reducing the need for imports in the country”, Kvrivishvili noted.
The Minister underscored the plant as a model of the country’s economic progress, driven by policies that support private initiatives, enhance access to financing, diversify export markets, and generate employment.
“The manufacturing industry is of great importance for our country’s economic development and the creation of new jobs. Currently, the sector employs over 200,000 people, accounting for 15 percent of total employment. It is crucial that we continue a consistent policy of economic development and use all necessary tools to support the implementation of such significant projects. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, with the support of the Prime Minister, will continue to actively work in this direction”, she said.
Kvrivishvili also highlighted Georgia’s strong global economic growth trend, as recognised by international financial organisations.
“Our Government ensures the maintenance of stability and peace in Georgia, as well as the strengthening of sovereignty, which is a fundamental prerequisite for implementing an economic policy focused on people, entrepreneurs, and the country’s development. This is precisely the policy that ensures the attraction of new investments to our country, sustainable economic development, the creation of new jobs, and, most importantly, the enhancement of the economic well-being of each of our citizens and society”, she concluded.
