Georgian Vice PM slams German Ambassador for misreading public and state communication

Georgian Vice Prime Minister and State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies Mamuka Mdinaradze on Monday slammed the German Ambassador Peter Fischer, stating that the diplomat has failed to understand how to communicate with the Georgian public and the state.

In his remarks, Mdinaradze noted that Fischer remains stuck in outdated rhetoric that undermines the democratic decisions of the Georgian populace.

“Peter Fischer never managed to understand how he should talk to the Georgian people. While many have revised their statements recently and try to avoid such epithets, this individual remains stuck in his old mindset and old message box, and unfortunately, continues to insult the choice of the Georgian people”, he said.

The Vice Prime Minister emphasised that the Georgian electorate chose the Georgian Dream Government specifically for its commitment to national independence and sovereignty.

“The Georgian people elected the Georgian Dream Government, whose main principle in decision-making is the protection of the country’s independence, sovereignty and the ability to make independent decisions. When we see representatives of European Union member states giving a green light to the use of such terms, we can confidently say that if anything is fueling Euroscepticism in this country, it is injustice”, Mdinaradze continued.

Concluding his statement, Mdinaradze drew a sharp distinction between Georgia's strategic aspiration to join the European Union and its refusal to accept what he characterized as unfair external management.

“The vast majority of Georgian society today feels that the current management, unfortunately, does not even consider a sense of justice. Georgia, the Georgian people, and its Government want accession and integration into the European Union as an independent country, not slavery to a management that aims for injustice and aligns its messages accordingly”, he concluded.
